About the training
This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces in the resources and infrastructure Industries. It applies to those working in operational roles. They generally work under supervision to undertake a prescribed range of functions involving known routines and procedures and take responsibility for the quality of work outcomes
Entry and participation requirements
Reading and writing – a learner will be able to read, comprehend and write a range of texts within a variety of contexts. Oral communication – a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language including some unfamiliar material within a variety of contexts. Numeracy and mathematics – a learner will be able to recognise and use a variety of conventions and symbolism of formal mathematics. Participants must have a level of physical fitness and motor skills to be able to access confined spaces and be slung in a harness; and not be claustrophobic. Unique Student Identifier (USI) required. Photo Identification required
Safety and what to bring
As a minimum, participants are required to wear closed in shoes and Hi-Vis clothing (no singlets will be permitted)

Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and Industry sectors. Relevant information must be sourced prior to application of the unit. Note: The terms Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) are equivalent and generally either can be used in the workplace. In jurisdictions where the National Model WHS Legislation has not been implemented RTOs are advised to contextualise the unit of competency by referring to the existing State/Territory OHS legislative requirements
