About the training
This unit specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely perform intermediate rigging work. Riggers use mechanical load shifting equipment and associated gear to move, place or secure loads, including plant, equipment or members of a building or structure. Riggers ensure the stability of those members and set up and dismantle cranes and hoists. This unit includes rigging work involving: • hoists with jibs and self-climbing hoists • cranes, conveyors, dredges and excavators • tilt slabs • demolition of structures or plant • multiple lifts. Rigging work is undertaken in construction and other industries where load shifting equipment is used to move, place or secure loads. Pre-requisite Requirements This unit has a pre-requisite requirement. This requirement may be met by either the successful completion of the unit CPCCLRG3001 Licence to perform rigging basic level or holding a valid licence for basic rigging
Entry and participation requirements
Reading and writing – a learner will be able to read, comprehend and write a range of texts within a variety of contexts. Oral communication – a learner will be able to use and respond to spoken language including some unfamiliar material within a variety of contexts. Numeracy and mathematics – a learner will be able to recognise and use a variety of conventions and symbolism of formal mathematics. Unique Student Identifier (USI) required. Identification required as per SafeWork NSW. Participants must be 18 years of age or older
Safety and what to bring
As a minimum, participants are required to wear closed in shoes (no singlets will be permitted)
Licensing and regulatory information
Competence in this unit does not in itself result in a licence. A licence is obtained after competence is assessed under applicable Commonwealth, state or territory work health and safety (WHS) regulations
Fees and other costs
A non-refundable Administration Fee of $100 is to be paid, this is included in the full course fee and is not additional to the fee shown above
Additional fees: Upon successful completion of the unit, to obtain a SafeWork NSW Licence, participants are required to lodge an application at a Service NSW location and pay an application fee (see SafeWork NSW website for fee amount)
